During my UX Design internship at DEPT®, I worked on the redesign and launch of the new Maandag® .com website, the global, leading platform supporting Maandags international growth ambitions.

The goal of the project was to create a user-centered, scalable website that would serve multiple countries and audiences, while maintaining a consistent brand experience across markets.

MY ROLE AND CONTRIBUTION

MY ROLE AND CONTRIBUTION

MY ROLE AND
CONTRIBUTION

I worked closely with UX designers, visual designers, developers, and other stakeholders within DEPT®. My focus was on usability, structure, and validation, ensuring that design decisions were based on real user feedback. In addition, I was entrusted with presenting these decisions and results to stakeholders within Maandag®.

I contributed to the design and optimisation of key and secondary pages, including:

  • Job listings & vacancy detail pages

  • Open application flow

  • Service overview pages for NL, BE and PL

  • Blog overview & blog detail pages

  • Account registration

  • Help & service pages

This allowed me to work across both content-heavy and conversion-driven flows.

RESEARCH & VALIDATION

RESEARCH & VALIDATION

To validate design decisions early, I helped set up, execute and analyse usability tests using Lyssna.

Together with Kevin, I:

  • Defined test goals and hypotheses

  • Created test scenarios for key user flows such as looking for a job, open applications and navigation for help

  • Analysed qualitative feedback and behavioural patterns

  • Translated insights into concrete UX improvements

F.e. During testing, we noticed that users on the Maandag® Professional page clicked the “I’m looking for a job” button to proceed, only to be redirected to the same page. This highlighted the need for clearer active states or button labeling to indicate when users are already on the current page and prevent unnecessary confusion.

Tests like these helped us identify friction points, improve clarity in navigation and refine interaction patterns across devices.

Because I was no longer working at DEPT® when the website was launched, I do not have access to post-launch performance data or conversion results.

However, this project taught me how to:

  • Contribute meaningfully within a large, multidisciplinary team

  • Use usability testing as a decision-making tool

  • Balance business goals with user needs in a complex, international context

It strengthened my ability to design with intent, validate choices and communicate UX decisions clearly to both designers and stakeholders.
